“The Gutter” is an upcoming comedy film based out of the United states and directed and written by Isaiah and Yassir Lester. The Gutter is basketball-themed wherein Shameik Moore plays a character called Walt who had low ambitions. The movie also stars D’Arcy Carden as Skunk who works as a bowling coach and also has a history of professional bowling in the past. Other cast members include Oscar winning actress Susan Sarandon, Adam Brody and Jackée Harry.

Synopsis

This movie follows the struggles of Walt as played by Shameik Moore who is looking for a job. As his life is full of a lot of struggles, he works at an old fashioned center known as AlleyCatz. Not a good looking alley in the slightest, but things start to change for him as he discovers he has a very unique talent for bowling. He first gains the support of Skunk, who is recuperating from alcoholism as well as once being a professional bowler. Eventually, they grab the attention of investors and gain partnership offers. Due to financial issues, AlledCatz is on the verge of closing down which is why they both decide to join professional matches to win tournaments and save the center.

Production

Isaiah and Yassir Lester film directed and produced it where Yassir Lester was also a scriptwriter. This project also has a cameo of comedian Adam Pally as well as Paul Scheer. The role of Linda Curson, played by Susan Sarandon, a retired bowling champion, has been remarked as very lively and funny.

Release and Reception

On November 1, 2024 the movie “The Gutter” has a new release in theatres and Amazon Prime. The reception for the movie has been lukewarm as it has garnered a Metascore of 59 on IMDB. The reviewers have said that the comedy and the other actors were good but stood on different sides on how well the story was done.
